HOF Landfill Facts

You Deserve to Know the Facts on Heart of Florida Landfill

Fact: Groundwater safety is our top priority

Our employees drink from the same water as you. We test our facility's groundwater as required by the FDEP utilizing 41 individual monitoring wells. Each well is tested to ensure groundwater safety. The FDEP is the regulatory authority over the aquifer Protection Program and the state of Florida's groundwater systems.

Fact: Hazardous Waste is Forbidden

We do NOT accept hazardous waste. Our permit only allows us to accept authorized non-hazardous Class I waste. Every truck entering our facility is screened at our gate before it is accepted for disposal.

Fact: The waste acceptance by rail will reduce traffic to the landfill

Beginning Summer 2026, waste will be transported to our landfill along a rail spur in enclosed rail cars, taking the equivalent of 40 large trucks off the road every day. This method of transport lowers the amount of emissions, traffic, and spillage risks posed by trucks.

Fact: We have been a Trusted Neighbor

Our facility provides safe and environmentally responsible waste disposal service each and every day.
